Bad Business

One business deal, one bad customer, and the life of a man’s family is turned into a nightmare they will ever live to remember.

On that fateful night, Kalu, a young and successful businessman from the Eastern part of Nigeria, living in the East, and his family went to bed like every other night, but at midnight, they were visited by armed masked men.

They thought it was the usual robbery.

The entire family was brought to the living room and with fear and trembling, Kalu surrendered his three ATM cards, pleading with them to take whatever they wanted, including all his money. He was willing to let go of everything easily without bargaining or resisting just so that his family wouldn’t be hurt.

“We did not come for money or material things,” they had told him coldly.

And that was when they realized that they weren’t mere robbers or thieves. The armed men had come to take his life.

Without telling him what crime he had committed and who he had offended, they pulled the trigger and released a bullet into Kalu’s head right in front of his family. He fell to the ground lifeless and the men left, having accomplished what they came for and throwing the man’s family into a state of mourning and the trauma of witnessing his death.

The family members of Kalu are traditionalists who don’t believe in just burying the dead without finding out the cause of his death, especially as he died in that manner, and so they went from one spiritual house to another, seeking results.

It was from one of the native doctors that they had gone to that revealed the culprit behind their son’s death. The man was caught and arrested, and the whole story came out in the open.

Apparently, he had had a business transaction with Kalu, and as common in business, Kalu sold the goods worth millions to him on credit purchase, with the agreement that he would pay up as at when due, but this man, after taking the goods, realized that he didn’t want to pay Kalu what he owed him. The money suddenly seemed too much to just hand over to Kalu, and so he did the only thing that came to his mind; sent assassins to murder Kalu in cold blood so that he would not have to pay back what he owed.

There was no wrong on Kalu’s part. This was a case of a wicked and selfish man who simply didn’t want to stick to business rules, and instead, chose to take the life of Kalu in a gruesome manner, leaving his family distraught, broken, and traumatized.

He was arrested and the case was taken to court.

Two years later, Kalu’s family is yet to get justice as the case hasn’t reached a conclusion even though the man had already initially confessed to being responsible for Kalu’s death. While Kalu’s family still grieves his untimely demise, the culprit is yet to be apprehended.

It has been two years now and Kalu’s family is still waiting for the Nigeria’s jurisdiction system to serve his killer what he deserves.

  1. God!!!!!!!!!! I love this story.

This is the country we live in and see how much the opinion of the masses matter to law makers in our father’s land? It is no longer a surprising thing that so long as you don’t have the money to show for it, it’s almost like you don’t mean a thing to the society. May the Lord help the ordinary man in our country.

  2. Ohhh my God!
The way people Murder their fellow human being is disturbing now.
You couldn’t pay and the next thought was the cut a man’s life short.

  3. This is so disheartening 😥😥😥
Some people are just cold blooded without hearts.

That was how someone that took a loan, went to put the lenders picture on the alter. Praying and hoping the lender would forget the money.

This is a heartbreaking reminder that greed destroys lives and delayed justice only deepens the pain. Kalu deserved fairness in business and justice in death.

  5. We continually need the Love of God through Jesus Christ that culminates into the Love Of Humanity to transform our hearts totally so we don’t become slaves of wrong and evil imaginations.
” for the imagination of a man’s heart is evil from his youth”
For without this Love of God there can be no definite and permanent Change.
We trust God to keep shielding and protecting us from the devices and plans of evil individuals towards us.

It’s heartbreaking that Kalu’s family is still waiting for justice two years after his death, especially with the perpetrator’s confession. The slow pace of the legal system can be frustrating and adds to the family’s pain.

  7. What pains me more is he evil hasn’t been killed,I mean there’s a saying that says those that kill by sword will die by sword so having knowing he is responsible for the action the law is should have done something about it but this country Sha God will help us

  8. Why is the world so wicked?
The love for humanity has now come to it barest minimum. Imagine the payback for the good hearted man.

  9. If only people know how untimely death hits hard, they wouldn’t even think and use “murder” as a tool to resolve issues with others.
