Skillfully Loved

Love is the riskiest business anyone can venture into…

Blessing, a young girl in her early 20s, had been dating her beau for a couple of months, and during the course of the relationship, he filled her ears with promises of a marriage, and that is the song that most women like to hear. They were making baby-steps preparations; preparations that did not reach her father’s doorstep. Anyway, her Man sounded so serious about spending forever with her that she believed him hook, line, and sinker. The relationship was going smoothly, and Blessing was having the best time of her life.

Some days later, the dilapidated phone that Blessing was using broke down completely, and when her knight in shining armor was not forthcoming with even empty promises of changing her phone, and she could not afford a new phone for herself, she became phone-less, and as a result, both of them lost communication for about three days that she was without a phone.

Blessing’s brother decided to step in by surprising her with a brand new phone.

Blessing was over the moon with excitement, and the first thing she did with her phone was to call her boyfriend whom she hadn’t heard from in three days, because she did not have a phone, but he did not pick up. Then she went ahead to download WhatsApp and sent him a message, sharing the exciting news with him, but he did not respond to her messages. Desperate to get in touch with him, Blessing downloaded Facebook app.

The first post Blessing saw on Facebook was her boyfriend’s wedding pictures with another lady.

Blessing broke down in tears, because all the while he was feeding her with promises of marriage, he was making marriage plans with a lady in his church. She was heartbroken and shattered beyond words, but then again, she discovered that the symptoms that she had been experiencing for days were that of pregnancy. For Blessing, that was something that people usually referred to as “Double wahala for dead body.”

She knew she could not keep the baby, so that same day, Blessing got rid of the pregnancy. She spent the next couple of days locked up in her room, crying and licking her wounds. After about four days of staying indoors, crying, starving herself, losing lots of blood, Blessing decided to come out of her room to get some air.

The moment she stepped out, she fell on the ground and fainted.

Blessing woke up in a hospital, and she spent some days there recuperating. After she was discharged, Blessing returned to her room and continued to cry her eyeballs out. Blessing felt betrayed and jilted, and she lost on all sides. This is a man that neither gave her a dime nor bought gifts for her during the period of their relationship, slept with her countless times for free, and got her pregnant using promises of marriage as his gate pass.

  1. Just wow… once an unserious man notices all you want is marriage, he uses that as a leverage to get what he wants.
But just three days and he was Married!

    Ohhh wow!

  2. This is so sad. The earlier she know that her cry wouldn’t change anything, the better for her mental health. May God heal Blessing.

  3. Most times a lot of youth do fall in the wrong relationship because they try to keep things secret and waiting for it to bloom before everyone should know but things have changed, from the moment affection start to flow please let both of your family to know about the relationship.
Time to use hearts fall in love don pass na brain them dae use now if not na stories that touch the heart go follow

  4. While I condemn her boyfriend’s behaviour, Blessing shouldn’t have killed an innocent child. At that point, engaging family members would have been reasonable.

  5. Deciet in relationships is on a high rise especially in this present generation. Such stories always happens, but how can we know someone with true intentions.

  6. Falling in love these days, one really needs to be very careful.. that guy shouldn’t have played with her emotions that way, that was callous.

  7. Moral Lesson:Shine your eyes make you no go fall for pot of soup😂

on a more serious note, people need to stop allowing love block their sense.
