Season Two

Episode Four…

Henry’s accusation that Nathan, a guy in their area had slept with Vera shocked her to her bones. She tried to counter the accusation, but Henry was not having it. He stood on his ground that what he heard was true.

“But how would you just hear something and conclude that is it true?!” Vera argued.

“There is always an atom of truth in every rumor,” Henry insisted.

They went back and forth on this until Henry eventually revealed that he did not just hear rumors and jumped into conclusions, he had actually seen Vera coming out of Nathan’s house days before he went to school. He was already hurt, and so when the rumor started, it only fueled the feelings he was already having about the whole thing. Indeed, there was no smoke without fire.

Henry’s words about seeing Vera come out of Nathan’s house rendered her speechless, and it drove her down an unpleasant memory lane.

Way before Henry saw Vera coming out of Nathan’s house, got a hang of the rumor, and completely switched off on Vera, Vera had been communicating with Nathan as friends. Just like some other girls, Vera did not think it was necessary to tell her boyfriend that she was friends with a guy in their area. Besides, it was not all the girls that Henry spoke to that Vera knew about, and also, they were only friends.

Vera’s friendship with Nathan, although not made public at all, blossomed into what led Vera into trusting Nathan. Nathan then had invited Vera to come and visit him in his house which he lived in with his parents and siblings, and Vera accepted the invitation. To her, she was paying her friend a harmless visit.

When Vera got to Nathan’s house, he had been home alone, and they had been having a nice time just talking. Nathan had even given Vera their family album to see pictures and entertain herself as that was one of the best ways to entertain guests at that time. While Vera went through the album, she began to sense something off with Nathan. When she turned and looked at him, she noticed that Nathan had become sexually aroused.

Vera was stunned.

Nathan then had begun to plead with Vera to allow him enter small. What Vera had thought was just a mere thing became scary and worrisome for her when Nathan intensified his pleading to have sex with her. Vera thought they were friends!

Unsure of what to do to save herself from the situation, she had also begun to plead with Nathan to let her go. Nathan was so aroused and in the mood that he held Vera tightly to the wall and pleaded to have his way with her. It had then become a clash of pleas as their interest now differed. Nathan pleaded with Vera, and Vera pleaded with Nathan to spare her and let her go. Vera continued to plead and plead until Nathan realized that she was not going to change her mind.

Then he had eventually released his hold on her, and Vera took to her heels.

It was when she ran out of Nathan’s house that Henry had seen Vera, unfortunately, but he did not say a word about it to her. Days later, Nathan had begun to sing like a canary that he had had his way with Vera to anyone with functioning ears, and we all know how news, especially the fake ones, spread really fast. The only person that did not hear this rumor was Vera.

Vera realized that there was nothing she would say now that would change Henry’s mind or make him believe otherwise. She would have had a stronger case if she did not have anything to do with Nathan at all. There were no witnesses to attest that Nathan did not successfully have his way with Vera, so who would believe Vera was innocent, most especially Henry? It was a lost cause, and Vera knew this.

After that call, she just knew that her relationship with Henry was over.
