BEAUTY AND THE BOYS 4

Season Two

Episode One…Henry

Vera moved on quite quickly from Chidi, I mean, what is there to brood over a relationship where one’s heart wasn’t exactly pitched?

Then Vera met Henry, but before then, let’s do a little back story on Vera and Henry. Back then in Junior Secondary school, Vera’s friend, Tomiwa, always talked about a boy; her boyfriend whom she really liked. She would fill Vera’s ears about this boy whom Vera knew already, because they all grew up together in the same community, but she was not acquainted with. So because of Tomiwa’s incessant gist about him, she became curious to talk to him; she also wanted a piece of the boy’s sweetness. One day, Vera visited Tomiwa at her house. While they were having a good time, Vera picked up Tomiwa’s phone and stole this boy’s number that Tomiwa kept going on and on about. Tomiwa had no idea about this act of Vera.

Vera then began texting him, and they started talking, but whenever he called, Vera would not take his calls for fear of what to tell him when he would ask how she got his number. Anyway, they kept up with the communication, and eventually, Vera summoned courage and revealed her identity to him. He then asked that they meet physically, which they did. After that, they continued communicating as friends.

In all this, Tomiwa remained in the dark; her friendship with Vera continued as well as her relationship with him…blindly. Anyway, a while later, another boy who knew about Vera and Tomiwa’s boyfriend new found friendship through the same Tomiwa’s boyfriend took the information to Tomiwa. Tomiwa was enraged and embittered. She felt utterly betrayed by her very close friend, so much so that she arranged for a confrontation with Vera and her boyfriend. This informant of hers also tagged along, probably for moral support, or to beat up Vera, if need be.

As the confrontation ensued, Tomiwa’s boyfriend did not deny communicating with Vera. Vera did not deny communicating with him as well, or even stealing his phone number from Tomiwa’s phone. As a matter of fact, Vera was not remorseful at all. Instead, she stood her grounds, refusing to be intimidated regardless of the presence of the other boy. More infuriated by Vera’s audacity even in the face of wrongdoing and the whole confrontation not going as she had hoped it would, Tomiwa stormed off.

This boy was no other person than Henry, and the confrontation did not prevent Vera from continuing her friendship with Henry…
