Chronicles of a Lover Boy 3

Season one

Episode Three…

The buzz of a wedding ceremony filled the area, and whether it was the excitement of free food, or loud lively music, or even the thrill of seeing new people dressed in beautiful attires and outfits that made a lot of the youngsters look forward to a wedding ceremony, one could not exactly tell.

For this particular wedding, Abida particular invited Adams to accompany her. For Adams, he was not one of the youngsters in the neighborhood who got excited at the sound of a wedding ceremony, because he was not a wedding attendant freak, or maybe it was so for Adams because his father rarely allowed them step out of the house unnecessarily. However, because this invitation was coming from Adam’s sweetheart, and fortunately, it was happening in the afternoon when his father would most likely be at work, Adams decided to attend.

At the wedding, Adams and Abida stuck together as they also enjoyed a good time together, but Adams, knowing that he wasn’t supposed to be present in that wedding had to leave earlier than expected after about an hour or two. Adams told Abida that he needed to go home to take care of a few things, and he also informed her that he might not be returning to the wedding. Adams left, and unlike him, Abida had the freedom to stay longer and enjoy herself.

When Adams got home, he was filled with joy and excitement, and a sweet smile remained plastered on his face. Maybe it had to do with his time spent with Abida outside their sneaky spot, but whatever the case may be, he was overjoyed, so much so that Adams ran errands at home without grumbling or making a fuss. If he had been told that evening to climb their roof and mop every inch and corner of it, Adams would have gladly done so.

And in the midst of all that, Adams eagerly waited for their meeting time.

At that time, Abida did not have a phone while Adam did, so the issue of phone communication was totally out of it. They merely played their love the old school way. Anyway, at 7:30pm, Adams was already waiting for Abida by their fence, as usual. He waited and waited, but Abida did not show up. At 8:00pm, there was still no sign of Adams’s sweetheart. He became worried. He had to go home, but he kept returning back to the fence to check for Abida. He even tried as much as possible to get through to her compound to know exactly what was going on. Towards 9:00pm, unable to bear it any longer, Adams took courage and went to her compound. When he got there, he lied to her family that his mother had sent him, and he was able to corner Abida’s little brother to ask him if Abida was at home. The little boy said no; since she left home that afternoon, she hadn’t returned home.

Adams was worried out of his mind.

Then Adams remembered one of his friends from their football trainings whom he had sighted at the wedding ceremony earlier in the day, and who also owned a phone, so Adams called him to confirm if the party was still ongoing. His friend said the party was still ongoing, and he was still there as well. Then Adams stylishly asked him if he could see Abida there; bear in mind that Adams and Abida were still involved in a secret relationship, so he had to ask in such a way that would not raise suspicions. His friend confirmed that he did see Abida, but that was some minutes ago, but as at the time he was calling, he could no longer see Abida at the party ground. After waiting for some more time, Adams had no choice but to go into his house to sleep. Although what surprised Adams was the fact that Abida could go out and not return home even late into the night, and she would not be questioned or scolded by her parents; he never knew that part of her until that night.

Then the next morning, Adams received a text message on his phone from this friend of his…
