She-Devil

There is no age limit to committing crimes, especially in recent times…

Two months ago, during break period in a primary school in a rural community in Abuja, a female pupil in primary three went to Nursery two, got to where a child had left his half-eaten lunch – spaghetti – and dropped a portion of poison into his food, and returned to her class. She did this while the nanny in that class stepped out quickly, but thankfully, another Nursery two pupil saw this girl dropping something into the flask.

When the nanny returned, she took the flask and called the boy who owns the flask to come and continue eating his lunch. When she opened the flask, the spaghetti had turned crimson red. The little boy told the nanny that this wasn’t his food. The nanny also noticed the change in color. In her surprise and confusion, the child who witnessed what happened earlier revealed to the nanny that she saw a pupil come into the class and drop something into the flask. The child was asked to go and call the pupil, and indeed, she went to primary three and called the culprit.

The little girl was interrogated; why did you drop poison into this boy’s food? At first, she refused to confess, but after much prodding, the little girl confessed and said, “I thought it was my neighbor’s food.”

The nanny and teachers were shocked at this. More so, she would have ended up killing an innocent child. This boy whose lunch she poisoned is actually an adopted son of an aging couple who have been married for more than a decade, but could not bear their own children. What was even shocking was that a child as little as one in primary three already knew what a poison was and how to get another child poisoned. If the little boy hadn’t been smart enough to notice that his food had changed color, or if she had succeeded in poisoning her neighbor’s child, she would have been responsible for murder. When she returned to school the next day, she hid in a corner of the school where no one would see her. When she was found, the coordinator flogged her severely.

The little girl’s parents were summoned and questioned, but that was as far as it went. She was not expelled or suspended. The parents of the girl were not arrested, because if further and proper investigations were done regarding this, chances of the girl being sent or instigated by her parents to carry out such cruel and evil task would be high. Instead, they concealed the story just to protect the image of the school.

A lot of things are going wrong, especially in raising children both in the home and in school. Parents do not take active measures to discipline their children at home when they go out of line, and they frown at their kids being disciplined in school all in the name of being “woke” and parent-friendly. Also, children have now been exposed to too many adult contents, and as a result, they now know how to go about criminal act like poisoning, suicide, etc. Sadly, a lot of schools now would tolerate just about anything from their pupils or students and their parents just to protect their image, or have large number of pupils and students in their school.

There are so many questions to be answered, like how did this little girl in primary three get hold of poison? How did she know that it was even poison to begin with? Who told her that if she put it in the food of someone else, they would eat it and die? What is the role of the parents in all of this? What made her want to poison her neighbor’s child? What legal actions were taken against the parents of the little girl? What disciplinary actions aside flogging the child a day after the incident were taken to ensure that this does not repeat itself in the nearest future? These questions and a host of others have not been answered, and yet, the case has been swept under the carpet, neglecting the fact that this child has become a threat to other children around her.

    1. It’s how parents forget that everyone child is precious, foolishness itself is bound in the heart of every child, but the rod of correction drives it far
Bringing up a child in love still includes chastising

  1. God have mercy …. 😨😨😨😨

the parents should be arrested and questioned, I’m sure they will have answers…. A child of primary school thinking and planning to kill someone?

The world is truly coming to an end….

  2. This is sad💔,and at some point we all wonder where did it all go wrong?,this child is said to be the leader of tomorrow..Children of the new generation are so sensitive.
it is of great importance we watch the things we do around young ones, just as we know -It is the little things that matters.

  3. Most times children learn a lot from the movies or dramas they watch, the content they watch in social media and from peer group without any knowledge of how it’s going to affect them, it’s the duty of a parent to always make sure parental guidance is attach to what so ever they do in other to avoid expensive mistakes.

  4. Jesus!

what did I just read? The parents should be held responsible as it’s either they sent their child or have failed as a parent. The school is an accomplice( protecting their image?).What a world we now live in?

This is so deep and disheartening…..

my question is how was the child able to get the poison and knows it was poison?

    Strange things are indeed happening.

  6. This is so callous and unimaginable from a primary school girl.. proper investigation should have been done, to avoid future occurrence.

God, save our generation and the generations to come.

This is so heartbreaking 😢, this is attempted murder. Schools and parents should really do better in training our future leaders.

  8. More questions like,

How and where did she get the position from, who might have sent her?, what wrong did he do to her? I would love to know.

  9. Things Dey happen sha….. To think this is primary school not secondary school, sth is definitely wrong at home

  10. alot of things kids do are learnt from adults around them.We must be careful not to raise children who are hardened. Some parents overlook some ugly signs, then when the child finally commits a crime they act surprised.the little things we ignore build up to become demons. A child who would do something like this is from a toxic home.

  11. Terrible things are happening in this generation. That’s why everyone has a vital role to play if we really want to get things right.

  12. The home is supposed to be the first place/agent of teaching that impacts knowledge to a child. Unfortunately, most homes are not favourable breeding ground for children.

    its amazing to know that;

    1. A child as little as this already has knowledge about poison.
    2. A child as little as this can actually commit murder.

The bigger concern is the fact that this child is going to be an adult some day.

The question is this “what should be done to this child?

A lot of parents don’t want a finger to touch their kids these days all in the name of good parenting. In the next 10-20yrs ears go full ground, cos they go later use teeth chop their parent ear for floor bcos they no train them well.
