Episode One…Chidi
Every woman, young or old have what they look for in a partner, especially one they hope to spend ‘forever’ with. Well, some women actually. This spec or qualities that they expect to see in the men that often approach them prevents them from settling for less. It does not stop the men who lack these qualities from coming, of course, but these standards that they have set for themselves stop them from continuing what might be a possible marriage outcome. Sometimes, the spec or qualities, especially for some go beyond looks and what the pocket weighs, and this is not to say that he shouldn’t be good-looking or financially comfortable, but there are other things…
And so this is the case with Vera.
Like most women out there, Vera has her own list of qualities, spec or demands she aspires to see in a partner before she can tag him as the “One.” Vera’s list is short, unlike some other women who have put up quite a long list of qualities. She just wants to love and be loved right. If you treat her well, she stays committed to you as a partner. Vera also loves her partner to be ambitious and intelligent; it literally turns her on.
Short list, right?
So how hard can it be to find that one person with the short list of qualities Vera hopes to see in her partner from the numerous line up of men?
Anyway, Vera met Chidi years back when they were in secondary school. He collected her phone number and they got talking as friends – phone calls which led to long minutes and night calls after they got out of secondary school so much so that at a point, Vera almost got into trouble with her father. For the longest time after secondary school, Chidi was consistent in his calls, proving to Vera that he really liked her. In words and in actions – visiting her home, relating well with her siblings, and putting in efforts – he made it known to Vera how he felt about her. However, Vera continued to friend-zone our lovely Chidi.
