Two years ago, a young girl of about twenty-three years old got pregnant for her lover whom she met in Katsina. She had just rounded off her first degree (ND) from a polytechnic in Katsina state, and due to her family’s financial condition, she has had to put on hold her HND program for the time being. It was during this period that she fell pregnant for her boyfriend who had already begun processing his papers to travel abroad for a course, while she lived with her parents in Abuja.
He offered to pay something on her head and marry her, but her family refused, because according to her father’s tradition, it is wrong to marry a woman whilst she is pregnant; she is Igbo and he is from Jos. So they settled for just introduction. They continued the relationship in love, the thrill and excitement of expecting their first child very evident. He was as sweet as ever, sending her money for upkeep and checking up on her regularly.
After she gave birth to their son, he proposed marriage again. After all, she was no longer pregnant, so the issue of her father’s tradition would not be a stumbling block. She suggested this time around that he should return from his course abroad before they officially get married so that she will not have to deal with an absent husband.
So he packed his bags and travelled to Dubai three months later.
Shortly after he left for Dubai, he and his family started acting up towards her. He stopped calling, and even stopped sending money to her for their son’s upkeep. All efforts to find out what went wrong proved abortive, as it seemed he and his family had made up their minds to cut her off. After trying to get through to him without success for some time, she gave up. The responsibility of catering for her son now fell on the shoulders of her parents, who are not even financially stable to begin with.
Fast forward to December, 2023, he decided to be generous to her and their son by sending his sister some money to purchase Christmas outfit for the child. However, because his family have not exactly stayed in touch, they had no idea how grown their nephew was, so she ended up buying undersized clothes.
That was not even as upsetting as when she found out earlier this year that he actually came back to Nigeria that same December, but did not inform her. He did not even attempt to come and see their son. Then to make matters worse, he made his short stay in December quite memorable by having the same introduction he had with her, with another baby mama of his. Apparently, he had gotten this other girl pregnant before traveling to Dubai; that is shortly after she gave birth to their son. According to this jilted young girl, he and his second baby mama are to be married upon his final return to Nigeria. It then dawned on her that they all started giving her cold shoulders after they had decided as a family who was to eventually become their son’s wife, and they settled for his second baby mama who is also from Jos.
She is heartbroken. She is hurt. She is jobless under her parent’s roof with a full human to cater for.

people can change at any moment, this is something that she should understand but getting pregnant for someone outside marriage was something she should have avoid.
Most times we need to learn from the mistakes of others why wait to learn from our own mistakes.
Sometimes, even the marriage doesn’t guarantee that a person will stay or even be responsible.
This is really sad, women should learn to different a good man from a rich man. Whilst doing that, they should also consider dating a man who is from a good or religious home
More importantly, a good person first before even looking at the family or religion.
Well, let me just say she took stray bullet, she should just focus on her son and continue her degree, if she doesn’t have money to further her education, she should get a job with her ND degree to cater for her son. Meanwhile, she dodged a bullet, because having someone his parents can control for a husband, she go really suffer. Also, if he can get someone else pregnant while having a son, meanwhile he can do worst in Marriage. She should just move on with her life
