Every single person is capable of corruption.
It doesn’t matter if you are holding a public office or holed up in a place that is not exactly significant in the human eyes. All men are accountable in the position they hold, and only the ones with integrity can resist the urge to practice corruption.

A primary one school teacher who isn’t even supposed to be holding extra-lesson classes after school according to the school’s rules and regulations, especially in the school went ahead to do so for parents who indicated interest in it.
‘Man must hustle’, I get it, but must we as Nigerians overdo it?
Immediately the bell is rung for the close of school, she would gather those selected kids around her like Jesus would do with his disciples, neglecting the others who are not a part of the extra-lesson classes. As the class teacher, her responsibility is to look after the kids even after closing time until their parents come for them, because the children are still babies, and without proper supervision, would harm themselves or do what they are not supposed to do. She not only takes some children from her class extra lessons, a few other children from lower primary classes come to her class for the lessons. So because of this, she became well acquainted with their parents.
Anyway, in a bid to please these parents and earn her mark with them, she became biased with scoring the children in their tests and exams. For kids attending her extra-lesson classes, she adds more marks to their tests and exams, even when she knows that they are not deserving of it, to make them score higher than the other kids and come top in the class.
After one of the school exams, she went to the class of one of her extra-lesson pupils and pleaded with the class teacher of that child to add extra marks to the total score of that particular kid. The teacher was stunned. She pleaded and pleaded, but the teacher would not accept her request to favor a particular child over others simply because she wants to be in the good books of these parents.
However, all her corrupt deeds were brought to the open and to the knowledge of the school management when a very sensitive and observant mother could not stomach it any longer. Of course, the parents of the neglected kids noticed at some point, but they did not take any severe actions against her, because they thought that her only offence was neglecting to look after their children after school. This particular woman’s child in her class is very smart and intelligent, and should have been considered as one of the best pupils in his class, but she noticed that her son kept having low scores in his tests and exams. As a mother who is very concerned and invested in the academics of her kids, she could not turn a blind eye.
She brought her observations to the knowledge of the school management, and when they did some digging, her corrupt acts were brought to limelight. The woman got upset, it led to a quarrel with the class teacher, and she pulled her kids out of the school.
Unfortunately, the school could not dismiss her, because they had some issues going on, and the school owner had already placed a ban on firing members of staff. However, to avert such occurrences, she was shipped to higher secondary as a class teacher.
If something like this can be done in foundation classes like primary one, what then would be said about students and lecturers in higher institutions?

I will say it again, be the change you want to see.
Exactly.
This corruption thing is everywhere, but to think a teacher in primary one could do that to pupils is really appalling 😪
And disheartening
Really appalling, because the same thing we condemn our lecturers for, we also engage in it. It’s a full circle, unfortunately.
Same way a filling station would close their facilities hearing they will be fuel hike then sell for the new price. It’s unfortunate that the system is corrupt. We keep pointing fingers at our leaders when the rest is pointing at us.
It’s a circle…
When we all do the right thing, the world will be a better place to be.
Corruption needs to be shun at all cost.
True
She will definitely repeat such even in Secondary class. It’s so sad that Corruption has eaten deep into the Nigeria System even to the grassroots.
As Nigerians, we will always find a way to get what we want.
So this thing about lesson teachers adding scores to their customers is true?😂😂. This is really sad!
My dear, it is o
Private schools should improve their salaries so they don’t have to tolerate bad teachers. Obviously she cares more about her pocket, she should have been fired.
I agree.
It is really unfortunate that things of that nature are happening at that level. But I think that for us to rid our country off corruption, we must take the issue of sanction very very serious. When people, either public office holders or normal citizens know that there are consequences for certain actions they will desist from doing certain things
Exactly…people need to know that when they do things they are not supposed to do, they will NOT get away with it. That way, they will think twice before engaging in it.
It’s very unfortunate that corruption is been practiced even in schools today
Well, that’s where it all begins, isn’t it?
A teacher who is a guide becomes corrupt… What guidance would the children get🤷
If only we paid attention to the consequences of our actions on others.
It’s always great hearing your thoughts thank you for the opportunity
God will judge her because the parents are using their hard earned money to invest in their children’s education. Not getting a honest feedback of their child’s performance is pure wickedness.
It’s unfair what she made other kids go through just for her selfish interest. Imagine putting your all in a test and still continuously being scored down. Terrible!!
Swears. Like that’s awful 😔
Completely.
