Season Two

Episode Three…

For a lot of people, the grass is always greener on the other side of the field until they actually go there to see for themselves.

Vera and Henry’s relationship began, and even though he was sweeter than sugar, which was what drew Vera to him, he was not without his own flaws. At the beginning of the relationship, Vera enjoyed everything Tomiwa boasted about, and even more, but as time went by, things started to take a different turn for Vera.

Henry gained admission outside the state and had to travel for school, meanwhile, Vera was also preparing to travel for her own external exams into the university. Vera began to notice some changes in Henry after a while. A couple of weeks later after he went to school, the attention she enjoyed from him began to dwindle. What used to be three-square-calls a day or even more began to gradually reduce to twice a day, and before Vera knew it, she would get one call from Henry only once a day if she was lucky.

This became worrisome to Vera. This wasn’t the package she ordered at all, and it then seemed as though he had been switched to someone else as he went to the university, and it wasn’t even up to one full semester yet. Vera would question Henry about the change in his attitude and how their time together was gradually fading away, and Henry would tell her that he was overwhelmed with classes and school work. You know, as a new university student, he had to put all his time and energy into his studies to avoid failure or low grades. Vera understood his excuses, after all, she had never been to the university before, and for everyone who hasn’t been to the university always felt that people there were busy and focused.

However, the situation did not get any better.

Instead, it got worse. Henry’s distance increased, and soon enough, he began to act cold towards her. Calls and text messages ceased. Words of affirmations ceased. Basically, everything that Henry used to do that Vera enjoyed ceased, and regardless of Henry’s excuses, Vera knew that it definitely had nothing to do with his studies. Besides, his studies should not also affect his mood, should it?

Angry and frustrated, Vera confronted Henry on a good day about his recent behavior that was stretching for far too long, and that was then Henry made his intentions known to Vera; he was tired of the relationship and he wanted a breakup.  

Vera was stunned.

How did they go from hundred to zero in a couple of weeks? Before Henry left for school, they were super cool with each other. Even after he got to school, things were okay, so what was bringing about the sudden change?

When Vera pushed further wanting to know why Henry would break up with her just like that, Henry revealed to her that he got information from a reliable source that one guy in their area, Nathan, slept with Vera.

Vera was stunned to her bones.

Do you think the allegation against Vera was true? Is Vera capable of really sleeping with another guy while still dating Henry?

Was it enough for Henry to break things off with Vera, or was he then attracted to someone else and just using rumors as a way out?

Was his way of handling things the right way or was it just plain childish of Henry?
